When space is silence…

Words, sounds, and space…

A glimpse

Eyelids open, eyelids shut.
A glimpse to the other side,
maybe a ghost or dragonfly.

Amelia follows the luminous, transparent wings. Their flutter leaves a red and golden trail with a faint azalea fragrance. Amelia closes her eyes, and follows the scent through dark woods and starless skies.

Ears listen, ears shut.
Heartbeats out, silence in.
Echos of known whispers.

I need to disappear

Cover my irides from all light

Let the people around fade slowly
                                 –smoke dissipating into peaceful darkness
Cover my ears from coherent sounds
                                 –random noise losing its volume
  Let me lie down

      My lightless wings grow gently
–serene brush strokes by a faceless painter
      I open my arms
            hug the warmth of absence
            of flying without movement
               directionless
               dimension-free
            of dreaming with no light
               oblivious
               unconcerned

      When I need to disappear
                 I melt into a dark-winged angel
& fly unaffected by this world

Today I read Debi Swim’s blog. I bumped into Death of a Poet, a poem inspired by the photo from indigoblue posted above and the prompt at Poem Tryouts: Take Wing. The photo is artistic and thought-provoking –I had to write a poem!

Where?

I want to be in the city someone forgot to build
right in the middle of dreams
where there is nothing to hide

A city fueled by a passionate sun
who writes temporal poems on afternoon clouds

A city at night covered by black-winged butterflies
whose flutter sparkles abstract motifs on an ever-changing sky

I want to be where tears and pain are shown
as much as laughter and joy
Where contrast is welcome
paradigms are broken
truths challenged

Snow & Fire

Storm

        Desire

I want to be there …

A black bird

               Touch

Memory
    Completeness

                               Heat

A black bird covers the day
with butterfly wings
in a hug surrounding the sky

               Touch

It’s space between two bodies
when the distance disappears

                               Heat

Finding colors in the absence
Feeling contact in a sign

    Completeness

The wings open the exit of dreams
Nobody wants to return
