When space is silence…

Words, sounds, and space…

Shades of silence

A  song  cycles  incessantly  through  this  penumbra
The midnight glow left that day
                                     scared    by  a  stranger

Unfitting ending of  a  startling night
Prelude of a labyrinthic chat

I left you that dawn
There was    perplexity in your eyes
                      disturbance in mine

It wasn’t confusion that crushed clouds into thunderstorm
It wasn’t my body    disheartened by your words
Nor    the discussion you wrongly forgot

Unfitting closure of  a  labyrinthic yarn
Prelude of a divergent path

The shades of silence are to blame
   All  colours    we left out
A  touch    that was not felt

  1. all colors we left out….

    and these lines:
“Unfitting closure of a labyrinthic yarn
    Prelude of a divergent path”

Well written — sad — you’ve expressed well the ending of a relationship.
Shades of disappointment, confusion and sadness.
Thank you for posting to the prompt!

  2. So many times we don’t express what we really think or feel. Or we express the opposite out of fear, as an erroneous act of autoprotection. Your poem speaks to those untold words that can damage equally or more than what is actually said.

  3. This is awesome:

    “Prelude of a labyrinthic chat

    I left you that dawn
There was perplexity in your eyes
    disturbance in mine”

… Also the last two lines.

  4. “Shades of silence” … responsible for many a blighted relationship! Well written.

  5. Interesting to blame the “shades of silence”, but I can imagine they would be the source of miscommunication.

  6. Those shades of silence are deep and can linger a long time. Some things just don’t work out, and we need to go our separate ways.

  7. Shades of silence….yes, there are many and they speak volumes. Relatable and well expressed.
