When space is silence…

Words, sounds, and space…

Then you blinked

Usually you have that diamond brightness on your left eye. Often I have the mystery that makes you uneasy. Or is it the other way around?

Occasionally, fog surrounds us, removing all except for that mysterious diamond. Then you blink. Then I doubt. Or we kiss and forget. Just… We don’t really forget; we wait.

But that November night, you became the person who scares me. The sparkle turned wicked –or so I thought.

Today I told you all –but you can’t know. Today I was the girl who shares her world in a silent conversation. I wonder if I hurt you.

Winter, under dark
northern sky –I walk alone.
No sun, no rainbow.

Poetry blindness

I come to a state of poetry blindness but I chose to write. I write about the challenge of crafting a haibun out of a true birthday story, or a big-looking moon, or both. I struggle and start strolling down a spiral that repeats itself, but not exactly. I write about it. I strive to write about my recent birthday flying west through an extended night, and the closest moon to the Earth since 1948. I wonder if the blindness is real or if it is a consequence of the struggle that keeps curving my path. I chose to write. Super Moon. Birthday. Both. Challenge. Choice. Moon. Day.

Dark November hours — thoughts
trapped in curves without closure
until brightness fills the sky

Autumn stupor

Drowsed by golden leaves,
Amelia  rests  at  her  balcony.

Her thoughts blink purple and red,
under a Monetian sunset.

Amelia wonders about the passion contained in clouds.
A secret desire? A lover’s touch?

Scarlet elixir indulges her lips.
Eyelids closed. He whispers. She observes.

The jar of a heartbeat

        conundrum

Amelia feels the jar of a heartbeat
wrapped around unspoken words

        hesitation

The phone is ringing
A turmoil of fears clutter her thoughts

        exposure

Amelia answers
Words are spoken

        entropy

Amelia releases a secret
Possibilities scatter around

        peace

Amelia feels the enchantment of freedom
